OUCH!! News.com Review
#21
Reeks of someone who has played the game for about 10 minutes. Which is still above the research average of 'serious journalists' at the Daily Astonisher/ News Ltd. Nice job taking the screenshots with his camera phone as well.

He should stick to his dating colums.

You can also see a big difference in the general atmosphere of the game. The lighting, shadows, etc.

Here are images of the RLL4 grass:

The issue of the degradation of the graphics on the field is something I noticed almost immediately.

I couldn't understand why it was so much worse, but I put RLL3 the other day into my PS4 Pro to compare it and noticed that whilst the lighting and field looks much better the frame rate was noticibly worse.

I get it if that's the rationale, but it still does feel like a big drop and so I do wonder if it's really worth it, as I never really noticed the frame rate issue in RLL3 until putting it in after playing 4

I can't put my finger on it but DBC17 also looked worse. Not sure if the gamma advice out of the box is right. But it's true there is a collective debate about which looks better in both DBC and RLL new iterations

In addition, the bloke is allowed to write an opinion piece. Which is exactly what a review is.

I wont say anything about the review, but I will say all of our screenshots were taken in game.

Are we playing the same game?

Here is my screenshot of Cleary kicking a goal in game - http://imgur.com/a/nR6pR

Here is your screenshot of Kahu kicking a goal in game - http://imgur.com/a/MTpUo

Your screenshot is a lot closer to the RLL3 style of graphics - blurred crowd, reduced background lighting, true to life shadows/highlights from the players clothes/skin, individual grass texture. My screenshot of Clearly has very flat, lifeless clothing and skin textures, the grass is a blurry, rough texture and the background (crowd/stadium) has a lot more focus and is very bright.

If anyone can recreate the Kahu screenshot in game, with the same standard of graphics, I would happily withdraw my comment.

For reference, here are another couple of screenshots to compare to both the Gallen and JT one. You will notice vastly different backgrounds and lighting, in particular.

JT - http://imgur.com/a/KcKnP

Q to BA: Can I ask if the screens were made on hi-res PC or taken from PS4/Xbox in game?

As a PC user still waiting for the game, I have to reserve judgement on graphics and game-play, but this article reads VERY VERY badly for the game. It's not a review of pros and cons, its a straight up trashing of the game and the company.

The article does give contact details for 'journo' so maybe forum fans should jump on his twitter and let him know what you think of his article...?

And then Photoshopped to look better.

Hard to disagree with his assessment. The new controls are rubbish, I haven't played it since Week 1. Why was it so hard to keep the same controls as 3? Anyway - LOL at those photos

"I haven't played it since week 1" as he bags the game. Some people are so thick.

It pisses me off, because this game is quality. It's fantastic. Sure it has issues, but my god, learn to play it, play it properly and you'll see it for what it's worth, rather than expect to pick up a perfect game and be a pro at it first go.

I think referring to this game as 'fantastic' is stretching the truth to breaking point. The game is okay, currently it's full of glitches, frame rate drops and gameplay issues that have essentially made backs useless and support play near impossible. It's a reasonable start point but in reality should not have been released in this state
