Apples and Oranges boys...

Anyone saying that Dally Messenger wouldn't cut it (or even an 80's player) in todays game is ignoring natural ability / instinct and the fact that if they were playing the game today they'd be totally different players considering they'd have been shaped my modern facilities and exposure to the game as we know it.

But it really is a case of apples and oranges.

One can only dream what someone like Messenger would do today... Hell I wonder what Terry Lamb would do today. These players actually worked. The luxury of training and hitting the gym all week and the relative softness of todays game would hardly be a set-back for players of the past.
