Sueing the NRL wont get you anywhere when some bloke in QLD died playing the game a few weeks ago. Loads of people have been left paralysed playing rugby league/union regionally in lower competitions. Just because Alex made it to the NRL doesn't give him the right to pursue for damages, just because the NRL has money. Its all in their contracts they sign. Nobody is holding a gun to their heads to play the game. They are aware of the dangers and risks and continue to play.

Alex is looking for two things. Money and to blame someone. Blaming Cameron Smith results in all these write ups which results in free publicity which results in people feeling bad and purchasing the book to help Alex.

Right now he needs the NRL on side so that they say good things about the book. After the book dies down and sales die down he will then sue the NRL for millions and possibly the Melbourne Storm as well.

I'm confident that is how it will go down.

So after watching the footage himself he still didn't admit that tucking his head in was the worst thing he could've done in that situation?

No, infact in defended in the news article below saying it was natural instincts to duck your head in that situation

as predicted earlier on, the allegations has certain upsetted Smith, he has to step out and spend time with his family and didn't make it to his captains conference

Good job NSW, good job. Did they really have to stoop that low to get a quadriplegic to help them get a mental advantage over this game?

Yuna with all due respect I don't think the NSW State Of Origin team controls national media. This isn't a conspiracy against Queensland it's moreso 60 minutes and Alex McKinnon wanting to milk Origin press for all it's worth to sell a book.

RE: State Of Origin 3 Discussion - Yuna - 07-06-2015

Its both

What do you think is going through Smith's head now? He's probably gonna hesitate talking to the refs now.

Character assassination at its best.

RE: State Of Origin 3 Discussion - theaxe1606 - 07-06-2015

I would be of the understanding Smith could sue for that very reason Yuna

RE: State Of Origin 3 Discussion - Yuna - 07-06-2015

yeh but you're not gonna sue against a guy in a wheelchair right?

RE: State Of Origin 3 Discussion - SOR - 07-06-2015

For defamation suits I believe you need to prove the following:

1. You were financially harmed. If Smith loses endorsement deals etc off of this he'd have grounds to sue but right now he has not

2. You can prove it's untrue. Right now it's "he said" and "she said" stuff. Smith would need legitimate proof that McKinnon was lying which would be unlikely to be found.

---

With that in mind I doubt Smith would sue.
