I recently bought AO tennis 2 & my opinion is that its very boring, it seems its just start, play, finish in career there is no excitement or surprises. I know big ant arent EA or 2K but in there career mode its an experience not just play a game start a new one. I also think the difficulties are strange. I play on amateur get flogged i play on rookie i flog them there is no in between specially if your a new player starting off in career. I do take my hat off to big ant for putting press conferences in, thats the sort of stuff that makes it more than just an arcade game & RLL needs that sort of stuff not just the game play but everything around tbe sport. That is a step in the right direction. All in all its ok but not great & is very boring & repetitive after 2 games. 5/10

What kind of exciting things were you expecting to happen? I think the way they've structured career mode is quite good. It's not as good as top spin 4 but it at least allows you to fully customise your character and invest in various facets of your game that you'd like to specialise in.
The gameplay can be a bit jank but it's mostly ok.  The audio is fantastic and immersive.
Agree with you about the difficulties though. I had the exact same experience but I'm winning matches on amateur now at least, after I couldn't even win a game before. Admittedly, this is mainly due to using drop shots a lot...
Most people just wanted a tennis game that would replace top spin 4 and AO 2 is close to that now.
